This course is intended for graduates who want to work as:
- employees of travel agencies and tourist information points;
- employees of hotels (e.g. as receptionists, marketing representatives, etc.);
- personnel of tourism departments within public administration;
- resort representatives working for travel agencies;
- employees of sport and recreation centres;
- farm house managers;
- tour managers.

The course also covers a range of general knowledge subjects including: the History of Architecture and Art, Ecology and Protection of Environment, Psychology, Human Physiology, Law, Economics and Management. Teaching uses a range of media - apart from lectures and seminars, students also participate in field exercises, science camps and travel and tourism trade fairs, held both in Poland and abroad. Thus, they can acquire practical skills which are essential for their future careers.
Graduates will acquire knowledge and practical skills in:
- tourism services;
- planning and management of tourism events;
- marketing activities including advertising, pricing, designing attractive tourism products and travel services;
- managing and supervising itineraries of a package tours, tour guiding;
- professional customer service;
- developing a range of tourism products;

- the English language and one other foreign language of the student's choice;
- application of modern IT tools in tourism.
Additional features
Students of the University College of Tourism and Ecology are offered a wide range of additional classes to choose from. These include specialist knowledge subjects, monographic lectures, held by invited professionals, and foreign language classes, allowing participants to enhance their command of foreign languages. Students can also take an active part in conferences and panel discussions organized by the University, during which they are able to meet prominent experts in the fields they are studying.
Major: Hospitality and Catering Industry
The course is aimed at those who wish to pursue careers as:
- hospitality and catering managers;
- specialists in the hospitality and catering sector, responsible for:

- employees of other sub-sectors of the catering, tourism and hospitality industries;
- entrepreneurs running their own businesses in the catering and hospitality industry.

- hotel management;
- commodity science with elements of technology;

The course includes theoretical and practical training. It aims to develop students' knowledge and understanding of the hospitality industry and insights in the area of professional practice.
Participating in a rich programme of domestic and international internships, students will acquire skills necessary to work in a variety of management positions in the hospitality and catering industry. As the course emphasizes the command of foreign languages, our graduates can find employment throughout the world; our former students can be found working for many renowned hotels in attractive tourist destinations.

In the academic year 2009/10 the University College of Tourism and Ecology launches two new majors cofinanced by the European Union:
- Management of Regional and Local Promotion
- Management of Sustainable Tourism
The introduction of new major subjects is a response to the demand coming from regional entreprenurs. Our University is launching a project on "New specializations, internships and workshops as an opportunity to strengthen and develop the teaching potential of the University College of Tourism and Ecology", implemented under the EU Human Capital Operational Programme. The funding we have received from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education will allow us to carry out the courses for the three successive years; the project also covers workshops on professional skills and competencies needed in the labour market, including a free coaching workshop on self-management and career management skills.
All the courses conducted within this project are free of charge.
Third year students will undertake 3-month internships requiring 18 hours per week, for which they receive a salary of 7,500 PLN. This is a splendid opportunity to gain professional experience, working for local government units (such as city council offices and commune offices), Local Action Groups, hotels, farm tourism businesses, etc.
Major: Management of Regional and Local Promotion
This course meets the need to provide professional promotion of tourism in various regions of Poland. It is addressed to those who are interested in the development and promotion of local and regional tourism, particularly to employees of the public service. The training is designed to help administration personnel develop more effective and co-ordinated promotional plans, which will tie together experience, activities and interests of various actors operating in tourism such as local governments, trade associations and businesses. The course also covers development and implementation of projects financed by the EU.
The course is aimed at those who wish to pursue careers in tourism working for:
- local government units and public administration (city council offices, commune offices, district authorities, marshals' offices, etc.) and tourism organizations;
- regional development agencies;
- tour operators and other tourism enterprises.
The main themes covered by the course include:
- the region's economy;
- enhancing community participation and communication channels;
- the Internet marketing – the Internet communication;
- PR in commune management;
- brand management;
- local government finance;
- information systems in management;
- media strategy in advertising;
- merchandising.
Graduates will acquire knowledge and practical skills in:
- organization of tourism, enabling them to work in the tourism sector both public and commercial;
- management of a tourism enterprise;
- designing and implementation of co-ordinated promotional activities at the regional and local level;
- promotion of tourism within the region, carried out in Poland and abroad;
- designing and developing the region's tourism product;
- initiating plans for development and modernization of tourist infrastructure;
- conducting research and marketing analysis in tourism.
Major: Management of Sustainable Tourism
Sustainable tourism, an integral part of sustainable economic development so strongly emphasized by the European Union, is defined as environmentally-friendly tourism. It is opposed to conventional tourism (mass tourism), which often destroys the environmental intergrity and does not seek to support local economies. Sustainable tourism also means promotion of healthy lifestyles, living in harmony with nature, conservation of natural resources and indigenous cultures, creating new sources of income for local people, reducing waste and excessive energy and water consumption, encouraging environmentally friendly behaviour. The concept of sustainable tourism ties together development of tourism with local economic development, tourism activities with the protection of the natural environmnent.
The course is aimed at those who wish to pursue careers in tourism working for:
- local government units and public administration (city council offices, commune offices, district authorities, marshals' offices, etc.) and tourism organizations;
- regional development agencies;
- tour operators and other tourism enterprises.

- planning and monitoring sustainable tourism;
- aneco-friendly hotel;
- trends in tourism;
- sustainable marketing;
- management systems in tourism.
Graduates will acquire knowledge and practical skills in:
organization of tourism, enabling them to work in the tourism sector both public and commercial;
management of a tourism enterprise, based on the principles of sustainable tourism;
promoting the region's tourism products and attractions;
designing and developing the sustainable tourism product based on local attractions;
environmental and health education addressed to the local community, local government units and and tourism industry employees.
